If you're new to this single mom thing, you may be in a state of shock, waking up one day and wondering if you can make it as a single mom. What does it mean to you, to make it? How you define "making it" can affect how you will make it. Everything that your former partner did and earned may be out of the picture now. It's all up to you now. It's a responsibility. It feels like a burden. It can feel like a nightmare that you can't wake up from.
Regardless, for the sake of your children and yourself, you've got to do two things: 1) Figure out where you are now (financially and emotionally) and 2) Figure out where you'll be in the next five years.
